So, this is of course a Lyra and Will tribute to the song Love Story by Taylor Swift. It got a bit tricky at times since there's no clips of Will yet, so I hope you'll excuse my occasional use of pictures! ;) As always, lyrics are below the disclaimer.

I do not own the clips, song, or characters used in this video. The clips are from The Golden Compass from New Line Cinema, the song is the property of Taylor Swift, and the characters are from Philip Pullman's wonderful His Dark Materials series.

Lyrics! :D

We were both young when I first saw you
I close my eyes and the flashback starts
I'm standin' there
On a balcony in summer air

I see the lights, see the party, the ballgowns
See you make your way through the crowd and say hello
Little did I know...

That you were Romeo
You were throwin' pebbles
And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet."
And I was cryin' on the staircase
Beggin' you please don't go
And I said:

"Romeo, take me
Somewhere we can be alone
I'll be waiting,
All there's left to do is run
You be the prince, and I'll be the princess
It's a love story, baby, just say...
Yes."

So I sneak out
Through the garden to see you
We keep quiet 'cause we're dead if they knew
So close your eyes
Escape this town for a little whi-i-ile
Oh, and you were Romeo
I was the scarlet letter
And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet."
But you were everything to me
I was begging you please don't go
And I said:

"Romeo, take me
Somewhere we can be alone
I'll be waiting,
All there's left to do is run,
You be the prince, and I'll be the princess,
It's a love story, baby, just say yes,

Romeo, save me,
They're tryin' to tell me how to feel
This love is difficult
But it's real
Don't be afraid, we'll make it out of this mess
It's a love story, baby, just say yes."

Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh

I got tired of waiting
Wonderin' if you were ever comin' around
My faith in you was fading
When I met you on the outskirts of town
And I said,

"Romeo, save me,
I've been feeling so alone
I keep waiting
For you but you never come

Is this in thy head?
I don't know what to think."
He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said:

"Marry me, Juliet,
You'll never have to be alone
I love you and that's all I really know
I talked to your dad
Go pick out a white dress,
It's a love story, baby, just say yes."

Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh

We were both young when I first saw...
You.

  • THUMBS UP IF U THINK WILL SHUD BE PLAYED BY LOGAN LERMAN!

  • Best song ever even tho its making be insanly sad, when i hear it.

  • is it supposed to shiver like that?

  • @AjaHemster agree*

  • @leafpool77 I admire your tenacity.

  • @tinyartist18 To repeat: I don't think it's bad. I think it's good. You think it's bad and that's fine with me but don't expect me to change my opinion.

  • @leafpool77 Having seen worse does not make something that is bad any better.

  • @tinyartist18 Of course I read the book!! I never watch a movie adaption without reading the book first, and you're right, the book is much better than the movie. But I don't think it sucked altogether; the cast at least was great. They did cut out some important stuff, but I've definitely seen worse.

  • @leafpool77 Did you read the book?

Frankly, I'm sorry, but the truth - not opinion, but quantifiable truth - is that the movie was subpar. The book had intense and meaningful religious and philosophical text and symbols. The movie was beautiful visually, yes, but lacked the content, the "gut" of the book that made it what it is. The movie is an echo of that personality, with just enough to confuse non-readers, but not enough to substantiate reader love.

    That's why there isn't a second one.

  • @tinyartist18 Fine, that's your opinion. I think they did a good job, and we'll just have to agree to disagree.
