In my opinion Brunswick was far superior to the other two big companies of the era. Maybe because they were late adopters, incorporating the improvements WE made after introducing their new process. Victor and Columbia simply couldn't afford the huge extra investments to upgrade their machinery. Victor had too many studios and Columbia was in its death throws, being taken over by a consortium; led by British investors who were opposed to changes at any cost.

I first heard this on Brian Rust's tribute to Adrian Rollini on Capital Radio about 1980.
Since then I've acquired the 78 on English Brunswick-incidentally a different take to this one but almost identical. Love the relaxed ensemble sound.

Great to hear this version for the first time. Anyone else find that when Adrian Rollini is adding his bass sax licks and cutting in and out of being a lead player and superb bass liner it is just so musically satisfying. I do not want to take anything away from the rest of the personel as they are all world class jazz men from the period I love the most. Watching old B&W cartoons on TV as a child gave me a love for this period of Jazz music and I am still discovering more to this day.

I just love this record, and you made a great job finding the right pictures!
I love this record and I never before heard it in this superb quality. Atticus, you're a true wizard with great musical ears! I wish I was able to do the things you do. I have time enough, but I simply lack the means.
