I take Deborah Spungen's book with the grain of salt that it deserves. I see an inept parent rationalizing for the extremely spoiled, manipulative child that she created, when you read between the lines, as opposed to a psychologically ill individual.
Supposedly, this doctor came to a diagnoses of Schizophrenia from 2 consultations. This doesn't happen, diagnosing organic problems is a long, arduos process.
I sympathize with Debbie losing her child, but I question her version of what happened.
