Oh dear... I can tell you love the song, but this is one of those songs that is so closely associated with the original recording that making a cover is full of pitfalls. You sing and play way better than I do, but for this song I REALLY would recommend ditching the John Martyn impersonation and trying to re-invent it in some way.

Great voice for Johns work..I agree with Kev below (electricragtime) about your voice. If you improve the guitar just a bit you would blow all covers away of this.
I can sendd you some guitar tab or get you access to some guitar playing documents if you wanted..which includes this song. -Ian
