I don't deny that there is a higher power , I just don't believe in the christian god who sends people to hell for completely shallow reasons such as having sex with the same gender, having sex before marriage or simply not obeying. Those things don't tell you anything about who the person is. A spiritual , caring person would realise that.

Just before your dad is about to punish you, your brother intervenes by requesting that all of the punishment be laid on him. That's what Jesus did, but at a much greater, eternal level.

Still, we all have the ability to shove Jesus out of the way and tell him that we don't need him to take our punishment.

@cinderpelt4eva Because he doesnt want us to fear him, but to love him. What God offers is change. And bad people can change. Nobody lives how God wants it. But should he kill everybody for this? We are his creation and he won't give us up. The punishment for us was fulfilled in Jesus. Now we can come to him and he will show us, what the life he meant creating it is about. If we let him he'll give us EVERYTHING we need and more; the best life we could ever imagine. Living with God isnt boring!

@cortinnemarie I don't know what denomination of christianity CJGibson is, but it's certainly not true christianity. God does love you no matter what, but he also judges people. He is a just God. And he knew that the only way he could express his love for us while maintaining justice would be to send his son, Jesus Christ, to do what we couldn't do, to completely fulfill the law and set us free from the law. Jesus took all the wrath for us, and all we have to do is let him take it.

It is too bad that soe of you guys don't get who and how God really is. How can you judge people this way and use God's name to bring somebody down? Please, the comments of those who don't belive in God are more christian than those of the so called christians!God doesnt at all save people because they do something right!! You can't rescue yourself. You can only let God into your life. He will heal you from the inside out, he will make you satisfied. He will give you true life. Thats how God is.

God doesn't send you to hell, you do, when you don't follow his commandments. he created you with a purpose, and if you cant follow the simple guidelines he wishes for you, then do you really expect him to let you dwell in eternal happiness, let alone in his presence eternally??? im so sick of people breaking Gods heart cause they refuse to have faith and believe in something there mind will never be able to fully comprehend. i hope this helps.

@Luella7 and it's the people that really follow Jesus' teachings that are the true Christians and the ones who find the real fulfillment, not those that join Christianity as a "religion" that benefits or does something for them. Following Christ is not about what you get out of Christianity, it's what you do for Christ.
