Jul 05 - Homily - Fr Angelo: Funeral Mass for Thom and Marc

At this funeral Mass for Thom and Marc Girard at St. Mary's Church in Baltic we learn of the power of faith in the resurrection to give hope in the face of such loss. Thom was faithful to God and family, truly living his vocation as Father, husband and Knight of Lepanto and imbued this faith to his family. Marc, Thom's eldest son, received from this faith the desire to give himself to God as a Knight of Lepanto and as a friar here in the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate, planning on entering this August. Through this faith he had the strength to try to save his Father and his family had the strength to endure this tragedy with calm and hopeful joy. Fr. Angelo reads part of the Knights of Lepanto induction ceremony which Thom wrote (really a first draft) knowing that his son Marc will be the first to go through the new ceremony last May at the Knight's Encampment.
