On the 29th day of their hunger strike, with photo displays, speeches, and music, the families and supporters of Ashraf residents paid tribute to 11 martyrs of Iraqi forces July 28 attack on Camp Ashraf. On August 19, families of Ashraf residents in an open letter to President Obama published in the Washington Times, called on the United States to end the humanitarian catastrophe against Iranian exiles in Camp Ashraf, Iraq. It said As the U.S. pursues an honorable military disengagement from Iraq, we hope that the rights of the people of Camp Ashraf and the pledges made to them by America are not sacrificed for the sake of expedience.
