@clever625 None of the above. I own the movie and have watched it at least dozen times and it's none of those 3 explanations. I had a completely different take on why Rachel didn't give up her source. Kate was excellent in this and I hope she works with Lurie again.

This movie is really deep. Oh my gawd, I give it 10 stars. The question is, why didn't Kate give up her source? 1. Because its her right as a journalist. 2. Because she had no source in the first place.  3. Because she wants to protect her company's repuation. (watch the movie to find out.)

I happen to think that any journalist who decides to publish the identity of an undercover U.S. agent, (be it CIA or otherwise), needs to hang for treason, no ifs, ands, or buts. That is treason of the highest order, and a deliberate act against the United States. I love Kate Beckinsale and I think she is quite possibly the most beautiful woman in the world, but I absolutely hated her character in this movie, which is quite good. Rod Lurie is a great film maker, and I highly recommend this film.

people...kate beckinsale was nomiated for a critics choice award for thiss movie, and critics said that she will be nomiated for an oscar,,,,because it was a excellent performance...but the bad thing was the movie didn't came out for financial troubles......its very bad for her!!!

I own it and have yet to see it.. I own almost all of Kate Beckinsale's movies... Even from early days acting on homeland.

With that said I believe it is probably an excellent movie. I saw Snow Angels and although it was rather good I was a little bit let down by the overall feel of the movie.

Yeah, you shouldn't see a movie for what simply happens in it, you have to look at the human side of it. Because if this were the case movies like, idk, the lord of the Rings would be: a guy has a ring he doesn't want and he throws it away. You need to dig deeper. Not just here, but in any movie
