"UFO Planet X" LOOOL. You are an idiot. It's not "Planet X" because of the simple reason that there isn't such planet, that is Jupiter and it's moons.

Very good, I see four (4) moons. Thinking about getting a pair of 25 X 100mm Binoculars from Orion. Done had about 3-4 big scopes, 10" reflectors, sold them all. Just to big to move around.

It's most definitely Jupiter. I've seen the same thing through a shitty telescope when I was 11. Now, 19 years later, it still looks the same with a shitty telescope. Jupiter's moons are no problem to see.

@johnrehak Sorry, wrong.
The Earth is farthest from the sun in July and is closest to the sun in January. During summer, the rays hit the Earth at a steep angle. The light does not spread out as much, thus increasing the amount of energy hitting any given spot. The long day hours allow the Earth time to reach warm temperatures.
Winter, the rays hit the Earth at a shallow angle and are more spread out, which minimizes the amount of energy that hits any given spot. Also long nights short days

ive taken an interest in jupiter in the past couple of months after a man showed me a digital photo he had taken through a telescope he had. I havent been able to see the moons even on the darkest of moonless nights, I dont know what this is,
-
that's not right. in fact it is very easy to see the 4 moons. all you need are usual binoculars or a camera with 10x zoom. :)

@tarifa37 We have seen this object in the South hemisphere since last year. I wonder why NASA did not say anything about it in that period. Furthermore, due to the size of Jupiter, I find little odd those moons being visible .... I mean, it is almost impossible to see Jupiter´s moons without a powerful telescope... So... maybe this object could not be Jupiter after all...

Nice quality better than my cam by miles. I had a look through binoculars too and the moons just looked like a blurry ring like saturn but you can actually make them out on this. Got to get a telescope me thinks.

As you know all planets has its periods. Its like our planet against the Sun. When its summer the sun seems bigger and its warm because we are closer to it. When its winter its cold and sun is smaller because we are in the distance of it. The same with all other planets. The same with Jupiter and his moons. Thats why it is so big and bright.

ok why is jupiter sooo bright at the mo and also the moon seems sooo bright too?
jupiter it was on the sky at night with patrick moore the other night!!

@redeye99999 I thought it must be however I have never seen it so large bright and with the moons clearly visible. All this with just binoculars it looked stunning , Camcorder doesn't do it justice.
