@siegheil94 they where some of the best. im not doubting that the luftwaffe was full of great pilots and im not saying that some of the best pilots of all time werent german. but have you ever heard of saburo sakai? to put him in simpler terms he was the japanese red baron. plus there were the Tuskegee airmen, the flying tigers, several pilots from britain, russia even polish pilots who made it to allied lines were known to be amazing aces.

@Raubritter1488 unable to? yes you're right a 30mm would blow up a p51 but there are moments when explosives dont explode. several dropped bombs, shells fired from tanks and even torpedos have been known to hit their targets but not explode, why should an me262's 30mm be any different?

the luftwaffe was an extremely powerful and one of the greatest air powers of the time but i woudlnt call it the greatest. dont get me wrong i respect them and they are good but again im not sure if i would say they where the greatest.

no they simply ran out of explosive charges for the 30mm somtimes they even wrapped notes in them actually a b17 to a 30 mm to the fueltank (fuelsalage) and the pilots were stunned that they didnt blow up. When they got back he asked the ground crew if he could have the bullet as a souviner he said which one for he found 5 unexploded shells in the tank and upon cutting the shells open one translated to say( this is all we can do for you right now ) some lucky basters huh
