All the comments here talking about the original song sucking and how David Bowie made it so great, just take a step back and shut the fuck up, The Pixies are way up there with David Bowie in musical quality, a lot of people including myself love The Pixies, and it's fine to like Bowie's Cover, I do too, it's a great tribute to the song, but have some fuckin' respect you know-nothing pricks for the band that wrote this badass tune. I can't believe Bowie fans are so fucking ignorant and stupid...

Bowie's cover appeals to me more than the original. But there's no denying the staying power, influence, and greatness of the Pixies. They've got to be one of the best, most consistently underappreciated bands out there. Given how many big time rock & rollers come right out and say they're influenced by them.... well, they deserve a lot more credit.

@spiros11386 Personnally, I love the Pixies, but this song is not among my favourites. I am unsure which version I prefer. I think Bowie's voice certainly adds something to the song, but the arrangement is maybe too straightforward.

I love David Bowie tremendously, and discovered his whole catalogue years before I even knew the Pixies existed, but if you think this version of Cactus is better than the original you are out of your mind. Its not even in the same league. I'm actually shocked to see that people think otherwise...

He took a good song and he made it sound sooooo much better. I don't even know the name of the people who did it first because he causes you to forget and makes you think he did it first and their just fans covering it. I love his better because he is DAVID FUCKING BOWIE. God of rock mucis and just plain music in general.
