colin clarke hit the nail on the head when he said everytime kenny got the ball every supporter expected him to create magic. kennys book explains it all... and no he did not throw the match....as for not looking interested it was his way he was like this at wembley and look what he did there...
kenny was god at wigan... edwards was in the right place at the right time..i.e in a grear team... edwards support play was his only game.... i remember when kenny left colin clarke had edwards at no 6 and worked on long cut out passes....and did it work...no way...you cant replace pure skill with just a support player.... as for mike ford kenny made him look so good that he went to australia and if memory serves me right never played first grade...
Shaun Edwards played in a great team, he was carried by Gregory for ten years. Gregory went to Salford and was still brilliant, Edwards went to the broncos anD was total garbage.
Oh by the way FUCK U you pie eating, in-bred bastards
There is no doubt Kenny he was a truely great player who left some memories for all British RL fans that year. However I was at Knowsley Road that day and I recall thinking he looked detatched and disinterested. He does care....In his book 'The Natural' a large section of his Wigan chapter is spent contesting the rumour he threw the game. Still a legend for me.
Does Brett Kenny give a shit anyway? I`d say not. And I know. You see, I`m a croupier in Vegas and he just walked in with Wally Lewis, Ellery Hanley, Beyonce and Audrey Hepburn. Keep yapping Edwards you yawn....
I remember the game being 3-4 days after the Wembley Final and Wigan must have been hung over or tired but they would have had to have been at their best that Wednesday night as St.Helens were ready for them - Meninga scored a hat-trick and played Brett Kenny off the park...Saints were the fresher team. Even so they weren't expected to beat the newly crowned Champions Hull KR in the final, again it was a similar scoreline 36-16 to Saints.
kenny comes to england and shines in the comp winning a challenge cup.
shaun edwards goes to australia and played second grade for the balmain tigers, unable to displace Mick Neil and all of his 69kgs from the first team.
if any player could be used as a barometer as to the class difference between GB and AUS league it was this numpty.
To compare a Northern hack like Edwards to the incomparable Brett Kenny is like comparing a shopping trolley to a Ferrari! Stop deluding yourselves poms! You've had some great players over the years and Wigan's consecutive finals victories was an wonderful achievement, but to compare your best with our best, or your comp with our comp is an exercise in pure fantasy! And we know you know it!

What about the possibility that they lost because the other team was better on the day ?
