This is the first episode in the "Pavel: Hero of Chernobyl Series" In the late 1970's the Soviet Union built a series of nuclear reactors in Chernobyl, Ukraine. In 1986, one of the reactors melted down, producing a steam explosion which spread radiation all over Europe and Western Asia. The Red Army was called in to assist with securing the disaster site. Pavel and the other members of the 87th Grenadier Flotilla continue to guard the site to this day, not knowing the fate of the Soviet Union. This is their story.
