Clara Gholston Hudman, aka "The Georgia Peach", was one of the early gospel stars from the 1920s, 30s, and 40s who was known for her beautiful dark and luscious alto voice, cultivated in her hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, before she moved to New York City, NY.

  • I love the way she says "But they have troubles too"!

  • Another forgotten singer before all the greats. Willa Ward wrote about her in her book "How I got Got Over". She was from the same hometown as Thomas Dorsey wasn't she?

  • They grew up in the same city, that being Atlanta, but I believe Dorsey was born in Villa Rica, Georgia (I hope I spelled that right, lol).

  • I can't bear much, but sometimes I like to bare it all.

  • You did indeed spelled that correctly-- My great granny is the sister-in-law of Professor Dorsey , and she sang background for Mdm. Edna Gallmon Cooke

  • Amen! A classic gospel performance by an amazing singer who was one of the best!

  • my father's group sung back ground for her
