New York State Senator Lee M. Zeldin (R, C, I- Shirley) held a victory rally and press conference on Thursday, December 15, 2011, to announce the repeal of the job-killing MTA Payroll Tax for over 700K taxpayers.
On December 7, 2011, the New York State Legislature voted to completely eliminate the MTA Payroll Tax for approximately 80 percent (more than 700,000 employers) of the business entities that currently pay it. This includes eliminating the tax for 290,000 employers with payrolls of less than $1.25 million, 415,000 self-employed taxpayers, and all public and non-public schools. Many others will see a reduction.
The rally was held at Senator Zeldin's campaign headquarters in Patchogue. This is the same memorable spot where he announced his candidacy for State Senate exactly two years ago and pledged to tirelessly work to repeal the job-killing MTA Payroll Tax.
