ietnamese leaders meet visiting Indian FM

HANOI, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh met respectively with visiting Indian Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna on Friday, affirming Vietnam's efforts to deepen the Vietnam-India strategic partnership.

According to the Vietnam News Agency, during their meetings, both sides agreed to expand and strengthen traditional friendship, multifaceted cooperation and exchanges of high-ranking delegations of leaders, and to create conditions to strongly promote the strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and India.

Both sides spoke highly of the 14th session of the Vietnam- India Joint Committee on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation held in Hanoi on the same day, saying that its results would make a strong contribution to promoting the two countries' relations, particularly in trade, investment, science and technology.

The Vietnamese prime minister said he wished the two sides would effectively implement bilateral agreements and join hands to prepare for the upcoming official visit to India by Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang, during which many important agreements are expected to be signed, bringing the two countries' relations to a new level.

The Indian foreign minister said India wanted to expand its strategic partnership with Vietnam, and pledged to offer more financial assistance to Vietnam in the near future, with many incentives.

He said that during his current visit to Vietnam, the two sides inaugurated the Indian government-funded high quality information and communication technology human resource center (ARC-ICT), prepared for the launch of an Indian culture center in Hanoi and assisted a project to restore the Cham tower at My Son, in Quang Nam province. They also discussed preparations for celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the Vietnam-India diplomatic ties.

Both sides agreed that the 15th session of the Vietnam-India Joint Committee on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation would be held in 2013.

  • Unlike many here I would like to clarify that there is absolutely no truth in the statement that Indians hate the Chinese,I am an Indian and I can say that most Indians doesnt even know much about the Chinese people and their customs and traditions, infact the Chinese ought to know much about India due to the prevalence of Buddhism in China. Most Indians respect the Chinese and also there is huge popularity for Chinese martial arts,Movies and food.People who say otherwise are simply hatemongers!

  • there's a famous joke in trend here in India bout how chinese name their newly born.. they take their newly born to their temple where their priest waits for them holding a shaving blade in hand. once there, the priest drops the blade on the floor & what ever sound the blade makes on the first hit is the new name of the newly born.. no doubt why their names are ting twing tang, chang ching chu or something like swing chwing ling..
