The next pet and my furture pets will all be rescued from the shelter. Pet stores are horrible when it comes to selling dogs, cats, etc. I think the saying, "Don't breed or buy while sheter animals die" is something everyone should hear and everyone should follow! Thanks for putting the word out, Best Friends!

the best breeds are rescues because every one deserves a 2nd chance and a loving family

The best book ever: "A Rare Breed Of Love", by Jana Kohl. Jana tells the story of her dog, Baby, who was rescued from a puppy mill. Baby and Jana are an inspiration to all who read their book.

Adopt! Don't Shop! Visit Your Local Shelter Or Rescue!--As a shelter volunteer, I can't emphasize this enough. For more information about pet shop puppies, puppy mills, and backyard breeders, visit these websites: Best Friends Animal Society, ASPCA, Humane Society of the United States, Missouri For Dogs, No Wisconsin Puppy Mills, & Animal Rescue Foundation. On Facebook, search "puppy mills". Thank You!!

If only more people would understand this message & fix their pets we could make these shelters go out of business..... oh what a day that would be!

@owCrAzYCoOkIeS It's more than pet stores...there are a lot of people who should not be allowing their dogs to have puppies. It's horrible!

Heheh The doggy's voice at 0:13 didn't fit the dog xD

@cliffjumper123 Reputable breeders should never be an issue, I think it's targeted more at the puppy stores you find in malls and strip malls and low rent pet stores

It's not only the big puppy mills -- it's the smaller scale breeders who add to the problem. Just because a breeder has only 3-4 litters a year does not mean the puppies should be created, nor does it mean the parents get better care. I know of "good" breeders who kill their infertile bitches the moment they can't produce puppies. I know of "show" breeders who don't care they're creating a good % of dogs with serious health issues, as long as they get one or two top winners a year.

yeah i hate posers!!....you never be cool if ur dog dont do anything cool like a trick, the race dont determinated the attitute of the animal..
stupids posers...euthanize them.
What about all the online ads and paper ads for litters born from backyard breeders? Isn't that the same as a puppymill? People make a living churning out pups from houses that also end up in shelters.

You are absolutely right! Commercial breeding operations account for such an amazingly huge amount of dogs born every year however. Think about how many pet stores in the country, and how many dogs they need to meet their demand!
Just think if we could all think about adoption this holiday season (and year round), and not buying dogs what an impact it would make!

excuse me but are you saying well licensed breeders who give healthy dogs to people should be stopped? MY dog came from a licensed dog breeder and my grandma was one as well! but i do agree, puppy mills must be stopped.

What Bettiepagestyle is referring to, I believe, is the inordinate amount of people in this country that spend thousands on a pure bred puppy, and then decide to re-coup money by letting their dog have litters and then selling the puppies. It's as serious a problem as commercial breeders.
