from www.earthsayers.tv, Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Ron Sims inspires us to be innovative and committed to change in a talk he gave in Portland, Oregon on April 22, 2010, EarthDay. He talked about what Sustainability means to him; the importance of changing who we are and how we think about it so that the grand experiment we call the United States of America is one of opportunity, fairness and justice. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Sims served for 12 years as the elected Executive of Martin Luther King, Jr. County in Washington State. Before becoming County Executive, he was an elected member of the county council. More information on his accomplishment can be found on his Website ronsims.com.

The event sponsoring organization, Coalition for a Livable Future, unites over 100 diverse organizations and hundreds of individuals to promote healthy and sustainable communities. By connecting issues, people and organizations, CLF empowers communities to take action together to shape the big decisions affecting the Portland regions future.

This public talk by the Deputy Secretary is part of the The 8th Annual Regional Livability Summit providing community leaders, advocates, government staff, elected officials, students, teachers and the multi-faceted Portland-Vancouver public an important opportunity to propel the notion of "what it takes to get the results we want... results on equity, sustainability, and prosperity".

This is five minute presentation culled from his vibrant and inspiring 45 minute talk.
