Researchers see it as having the potential to revolutionize medical treatment by diminishing, controlling or even curing life-threatening diseases and injuries. In 2008, voters overwhelmingly approved Proposal 2, making Michigan one of just three states that protect stem cell research in the state constitution, but legislative challenges are being mounted on both the state and federal level.
