After my short morning flight on Sunday 09/05/2010, I came back up and had lunch with Rachel. I planned to set up and fly again during the best part of the day, but first I decided to lie down in the hammock to just "rest a few minutes". About two hours later I woke up. :-) The wind was blowing nicely, still a LITTLE cross from the left, but closer to straight-in than in the morning and perfect velocity. So I set the Sport 2 up again hoping for some nice afternoon soaring. Unfortunately by the time I got the glider all set up and my harness packed up the wind had died down quite a bit. So it turned into one of those afternoons where you keep waiting around, thinking the wind will build back up again (maybe this is just a short lull...), but the cylces keep getting weaker and further apart as you mindlessly kick dirt. Almost broke down on top, but the Sport 2 is so much fun to land, and so quick to break down, I figured what the hell and took a late afternoon sledder. Nice launch and then glided straight to the LZ in smooth air. But lo and behold I found a little lift over the LZ (about 500' AGL) and spent about 5 minutes bobbing up and down in nice smooth thermal lift. I wasn't able to climb out, but it sure was a nice way to extend a sledder! Had another awesome landing in the Sport 2 and giggled again at how much fun it is to land. :-)
