@nichobert I agree, brother/sister. I quit going to Phish shows after 97 because I felt the lot scene was invading not just the atmosphere inside but also seeping into the music. And life piled up on top of me at that time too. But now, going back to those tapes, I see that they kept the spirit not just alive but also kicking. A lot of great performances and concert runs from those last years pre-hiatus. Lovely, actually.
And, as ever, thanks again silverchair97.

Yea in general 97-00 is either underrated or misrated. I feel like everyone was too quick to generalize what they had going on then. There is stuff from those years that is just as dark and swirlingly psychedelic as anything they were doing before. A jam like the Worcester 97 Jim couldnt have happened a few years before, they wouldn't have had the patience to move smoothly from one theme to another and there would have been chunks of messy weirdness instead of just pure HOSE

Fuck I love this jam!!! Like this comment if you agree with me that 2000 phish is hugely underrated - huge monster disco jams all year like this!!

even if you're not a fan of phish, as a musician one has to appreciate how damn tight these guys are ... amazing

I think Phish has successfully made music designed for the psychedelic experience.

EEZ good, NO? But hey yeah that TOTALLY sounds like somebody crapped the bed-piece on that one. It's the PHiSH equivalent of the fly-ball falling in shallow left and everyone's yelling "I GOT IT!" and then kablooski, the ball plunks into the ground. So the 2nd baseman goes "We're playing Mike's."

fishman is such an amazing drummer

The music itself was never compared, it was everything else.
