  • what is this instrument????

  • @skakaravskrack Looks like a koto - similar to the Chinese guzheng.

  • @blackpostcards thats what i thought but im not so sure, maybe its just the angle and it looks weird but the koto (from what ive seen which isnt much) is wider and has all of those little like scalloped bridges..unless there's different kinds? im pretty ignorant about this stuff

  • @skakaravskrack Possibly it's the angle - he's sitting on a low improvised stage, so we're looking at the instrument from the side. You can see the bridges sticking up from it, and the strings stretched over them.

  • @MrCockIt that's a load of shit, I'm not making a point here but I can at the least say I'm classically trained to a high level, but you seem to be missing the point of what they're doing, desperately trying to somehow reach new levels of expression *outside* the rigid limitations of classical and most modern music...(which is hugely limiting however pretty) so to dismiss any attempt to go beyond the tradition instrument is just misinformed whether you enjoy it or not. you don't need to like it

  • sounds amazing. Like how it annoys people. What is music? as if anyone can answer that. Stupid to even try.

  • @blackpostcards its a sitar that doesn't have the bowl to it.

  • @skakaravskrack Sorry for late answer. It's definitely not koto. I'm pretty sure this is a modified and amplified rare Indian instrument called rudra veena.

  • "music is the organization of sound" (albeit, meta-music then is the various organizational systems that one could employ or combine to make a philosophical statement about choice and determinism, the body and its extensions, etc etc etc.)

  • "music is mutation made audible"

  • @mrsandpebble1.. thats the point i was gettin at

  • wtf

  • @Pables1994 but for some people regular guitar riffs and drums etc get boring cuz everyone makes rhythm and emotion which is cool but sometimes i don't how i feel and no rhythm can explain it until i throw on some keiji haino and takes me into a dark mysterious atomspheric void which is unexplainable and with a imagination ur mind can wonder & understand keiji haino's sound....u jus dont listen to music with ears u can also listen with your mind....

  • @KaiSuTeknon315 Instruments played to a certain rhythm, cadences, scales, a beat if you really wish, sometimes accompanied by chords or harmonies. This is a man sitting on a stage playing whatever string he sees first.

Don't be a pretentious hipster and say "But you can't actually define what makes music because it's just a form of audible expression", because no, it's stupid. The "in" crowd pretend this means something to them so they don't feel "out". See also: The Emperor's New Suit.

  • @Pables1994 what is music then?
