A Montreal sports bar 'La Station des Sports' owned by real estate developer Peter Sergakis, is expanding into a mega-sports complex. Sergakis is shutting down the local business along St-Catherine Street and turning the entire city block into a 900-seat bar and restaurant. Bookshop owner, Terry Westcott, was told that he has a week to shut down because construction will begin soon. The owner of the other bookstore in the neighbourhood, Argo Books, sees this as a blow to culture in Shaughnessy Village.

  • Thanks. Well according to what I've read, it sounds like Sergakis has given Westcott and the Sex Shop one week. However, I'm sure he'll give more time for them to find new locations. None of the business owners would talk to me about it, because they want to have a good relationship with their landlord, even if he's putting them out.

  • The simple fact of the matter is Sergakis owns the buildings and can do with them as he pleases and if none of the tenants demanded written leases, etc. it was very, very bad business sense on their part. First rule of contract law is to ALWAYS get it in writing.

  • It's too bad, I love book stores. And to have one close because of a bar that sales cheap piss beer to rowdy college boys.... well, it breaks my heart.

  • Good Job Adam! Do you know when all this is supposed to happen?
