So the political deity you invoke as an example for cutting spending and taxes is Reagan who RAISED TAXES AND SPENDING? Republicans have no street cred for so-called fiscal responsibility, because they raise taxes on those who need their money most while leaving the rich and multinational corporations alone, and cut money from social programs that benefit the underprivileged while increasing spending on useless defense programs.

@samuils The terms "liberal" and "progressive" are still the same. We believe in personal freedoms such as equality in marriage, a government free of religion, equal rights, and higher minimum wage.

@samuils Fabianism believes in government control of everything. I do not like a government controlled society. Aid programs are usually government run, but that does not mean we are socialist. That would be to the far left of us. The US government has many socialized programs, such as the police and fire department, and the military. Even if you are anti war, many conservatives are pro war.

@demdanglibruls Liberal is no longer what it used to stand for, it is Fabian socialist who have started to call themselves Liberals, so no not Republican, same goes for Progressive, that term was adopted by the same group after "Liberal" became no longer suitable, so again thats not Republican. I am not for expanding Military, even though military is one of few duties under constitution (thus allowed) How do u know wht Dems believe in? Seems right on the money

@samuils I consider myself a true republican, which is liberal and progressive. Typical right wing politics such as expanding military also increase the size of the government. Socialism believes in the abolition of class. They also believe in common ownership of the means of production, and democrats do not.

@samuils Democrats, not liberals. Liberals were the majority in the republican party until the New Deal. Slowly the conservative elements moved to the republican party, ending with the last of the dixiecrats of the south. Back then the democrats were conservative, not liberal. They believed in extreme right wing ideas such as segregation. I do not want a giant government, but helping the poor with aid should be necessary.

And Liberalism seems to aspire to be communist, Liberals want nothing more but to grow government to no end, and I am not going to wait until its 100% Government, to finally call Liberals Socialist or Communist. @samuils Conservatives have been calling liberals communists for almost 70 years now. It was very common for anti segregationist newspapers to be called communist or marxist. Martin Luther King was called a communist. Conservatives have been calling people who disagree with them communists/marxists/socialists for a while. Liberalism is as close to communism as conservatism is to fascism. Just because someone disagrees doesn't make them idiotic.
