A short drive in my MGA with a 4-cylinder Nissan 1.8 liter DOHC turbo engine. Specs are 4.1 diff, 10 lbs of boost, 72-spoke MGC wire wheels and 195/60 15R tires.

I estimate that I have about 165-175 hp at the rear wheels.

  • Did you mount a front wheel drive engine to a rear wheel drive transmission?

    How?

  • @watsby7 The CA18DE(t) blocks are the same whether they are front wheel drive or rear wheel drive. The transmissions, etc. are obviously different.

  • My CA18DET made 220 wheel hp 216 wheel tq in my 240SX on 93 octane, front mount intercooler, 3" turbo back exhaust and 12psi on my 1st dyno after I got the car running. I upgraded to a red top SR20 T25G turbo and made 241whp and 229wtq on 12psi. Since then Ive pulled the motor for an entire build. Spool rods, Supertech Pistons, 750cc injectors and a much larger GT2871R turbo. I cant wait to see what it does. I love this engine. Great job man, sounds like it runs flawless. Crazy swap too!!!!!!!

  • @ca18drifter88 I just got my engine rebuilt and have also done the SR20 turbo upgrade. I have 450 DSM injectors and plan on upping the boost to 15 psi. Can't wait to see what that does.

I love these engines and these cars. Good combination since my car only weighs about 2,000 pounds.

  • Great vid - do you have any more info on the swap (a website of somehting to check it out)? Thanks!

  • @cobachaamplia Sorry I didn't write in sooner. I was overseas for a while and just got back not too long ago.

Youtube won't let me publish the link, but if you search for British V8 CA18DET MGA you'll find the write up I did.

  • in Europe old cars modified in this way aren't allowed to circulate. law denies any swap or modify on historic car.... and i approve of this attempt to preserve original cars and engines! Swapping is wrong!!

  • Never mind there is a Sea world in San Antonio off 151 , I thought the sign said 115 Sea World which would be San Diego , yep got to be you Darian . Nice !

  • Looks like you are in San Diego in the video , your Darian from Texas aren't you ?
