The "Wandering View" of Director/Artist Lobsang Tenzin ... "The Struggle" is a short film I made few years ago. It was screened only once, at the World Film Festival 2002 (Montreal). For me it is a good example of what can be done with a clear vision and a focused production team. The film's story was exceptional, and it was an unknown true reflection of the amorality that created the Holocaust. The events had been revealed to me ten years earlier by the main character, Reverend Hull, during a flight from Tel Aviv to New York. The Reverend, (in his late 80s) was seated next to me and while we exchanged tales, we became fast friends. I was spellbound by his experience of being one of the three official witnesses to the execution of Adolf Eichmann, and completely blown away by his efforts to compel humanity's #1 criminal to change his views on his crimes. I promised the Reverend to one day make a film about those moments and he happily pointed me to the transcripts of the visits he had with Eichmann with the hope to eventually share the exceptional moments with the world. My view through the camera, as the artistic transducer, was as may be viewed by our collective consciousness ,,, anywhere and all at once. (or maybe God's POV) The film's screening provoked much discussion on all kinds of things, from the nature of evil to the sad state of western religious philosophy.

... made the film almost for nothing, but with huge help from family, friends and colleagues. We needed solid performances by the actors because we only had the studio for 3 days, (1 day for the build and 2 for the shoot ) and I could only afford a 2:1 film ratio, so, the actors were limited to just 2 takes per shot (no slate). Inspired work performances by the entire cast. On the last shot, we barely got one take, when the film ran out."

REVIEWS:
2004 IMDb REVIEW: "Dark, makes you think long after you've seen it. Unforgettable ... A unique battle, shown with serious, unprejudiced calm. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in exploring the motives behind the "Holocaust". The sets, tone, performances are very believable. An amazing effort for a small budget. High degree of authenticity of local and wardrobe. Performances by Susan Glover, Arthur Holden and Richard Zeman above the norm. A serious subject a very serious film. Photography support story and takes it to another level. A great overall effort. I hope to see it in video stores soon. Would like to read more comments from those who have seen this rare film. It makes no apologies for Adolf Eichmann or the Israelis."

COMMENTS ON "THE STRUGGLE"

"This is a beautiful and very well told story. Thanks again and again."

"great job by the actors and the film maker.... Wonder what happened to his soul... maybe i don't care to know."

"ouch!!!! scary little movie. Job well done but then again who am I to say. The film grasped me and it clearly showed how true evil has no remorse and is without wisdom pure ignorance - at least so it seems to me. I am a survivor and I will always pray for the souls who feel evilness in their hearts
May all beings have happiness and the causes of happiness ..........................

.........♥

"I've always found this to be a powerful short film and congratulate all who created it..."
