Paris to Istanbul with Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic Fibrosis is a disease that affects the mucous membranes, causening thickening of phlegm.
This leads to bacterial infections which cause permanent lung damage
Diagnosis occurs in early childhood and without a daily barrage of antibiotics and medicine the sufferer will not live past their teens.
Even with the best of care, life expectancy is 35
Walter van Praag, diagnosed at 10, aged 42: On 28 th of July, 2007, Walter and his team rode East out of Paris. Their awareness ride took them through 12 European countries. Each with its own challenges and obstacles
As well as many rewards and surprises
Ultimately though, their goal was to reach Istanbul by October.
Altogether the journey took 72 days and 3495 kilometres.
And all with only 50% lung capacity.
