I cannot help but think that overly stringent/bureaucratically muddled gun control only strips power from those who obey the laws. The lawless bastards that want to rob you more than likely didn't get their guns legally and will, in my opinion, prey on people even more so knowing that the law-abiding cannot easily arm themselves. Subversion of the 2nd Amendment also strips us of the ability to defend ourselves against our own government, should that unfortunate scenario become necessary.

@gfreakj To the point that in DC you have to prove you've been threatened, does the city's overall crime rate & legacy of homicide numbers serve as good enough proof? :\ I mean what are these bureaucrats looking for, a death threat with the signature "non-law abiding criminals" on the bottom?

Well, at the bare minimum I hope you won't (or didn't) have any issues securing a firearm to protect yourself at home.

@vangard213 Thats what I was thinking. Don't want to buy a gun and not be able to handle it. As far as getting advice from someone who's been shot...hmmmm. Not sure if that's good or bad. ;)

@gfreakj The 9mm is great for protection at home or when shooting at the at at the range. It has very minimal recoil. I have a baretta 9mm solely for home protection. It is larger and heavier than the glock easy to clean and keep maintained. You can Google baretta 9mm for the pic and specs. I tried to send them but was unable.
