  • I am right there with you, Hesuku! I am not interested in "new generation" Yamato--I love the old characters and want to see them again.

PS I hated that Shima told Yuki at the end that he loved her. During the entire run there was really no alluding to that. I think it was a last-ditch effort to bring more drama to his death--and I, for one, didn't buy it. They should have made a reference to Trelaina if they were gonna do something like that.

  • 2009 you'll get you wish!!!! Did you see the trailer video I sent you? I can't belive it!!! Kodai and his daughter!!! I can't wait!!!

  • Awesome video to my favorite Couple.

  • Anniesmyth, I have no idea why your wonderful comment got hidden as spam. Who did that!?!?!?

I understand why Shima confessed his real feeling as he was dying. Yes, Shima loved Theresa(Trelina), but his first love was Yuki. He valued and wished the happiness of both his best friend and his long-time love, and blessed them both in his last moment. To me, it's the best part in "Final Yamato," showing true, selfless love and friendship.

  • Did they take the trailer down? I'd love to see it.

  • THANK YOU!! Pjnjs, isn't it so weird to get this news in the midst of us just talking about this forgotten(it wasn't forgotten after all), ancient anime!? You totally made my day! I was never so excited in my life over a cartoon for 3 decades!! I just hope it won't betray old, ancient fans like me. Happiness awaits in 2009...^^ This could be a start of a series worthwhile to watch!!

  • I mean I want see the old, original characters moving in a drama, not brand-new episodes with new Yamato characters.

  • You're right. "Final Yamato" is final - with THAT ending(refering to Yamato sinking in the floating ocean with Cpt.Okita), nothing more could be done. It's just a fan's never-ending impossible yearning to see a little more of "Yamato". If the producer was successful with "Starlight Odin" in 1985, "Desslor's War" could have been a reality, I read.

  • I read an interview with the writer - when they finished the revision to "Final Yamato" he said he was pretty much done with it - although he was tossing around the idea of doing a Desslar story... But that never came about, unfortunately...

  • Yeah, and it's certainly an one-of-its-kind gem. There's nothing like "Yamato"! If they can't make the sequences, they should be able to make the in-between stories with the Yamato game style. I saw other anime doing it. Say, Katou and Sasha's romance between the time frame of "New Voyage" and "Be Forever." Or Mamoru and Starsha's story helping out the remnants of Gamilus before "New Voyage." Of course there'd be enemy's attacks. "Yamato" is always a war romance drama with sacrificial acts.
