Sunday, November 7, 2010 was United Methodist Women's Day at Centenary United Methodist Church (CUMC), located at 300 S. Central Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90013. Guest speaker was Jenifer Guitierrez, the Associate Director of Urban Ministry, California-Pacific Annual Conference. The new CUMC UMW Officers were installed for the coming year during church service. The UMW then honored two women (Arline Lew and Angel Nishinaka) for their outstanding service to the church. Speaking on behalf of the honorees were Rev Karen Fay Ramos-Young, Cynthia Lew, Vicky Nishinaka-Leon and Joanne Nishinaka. Shortly after church service, the UMW gathered at the Mexican Village Resturant (located at 3668 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90004) for the UMW Installation luncheon. Centenary UMW's President, Martha Nishinaka, MC'ed the event that included a blessing from Rev Karen Fay Ramos-Young, a brief word from Rev Jennifer Gutierrez, entertainment by Nikki & Taylor Young, Cynthia Nishinaka and Alyssa Nakamoto. Rev Mark Nakagawa closed the luncheon with the benediction.
