Cradle of Hope - The Tumaini Children's Project

Tumaini means "hope" in Swahili, the national language of Kenya. Tumaini is a charitable organization dedicated to promoting the health and development of Kenyan orphans through sustainable income-generating projects developed through Kenyan-Canadian youth to youth partnerships.

The Cradle of Hope Children's Home located in the north-east corner of Kisumu, Kenya. Some parts of the Milimani area are relatively affluent and the Children's Home is located at an interesting crossroads between a "middle-class" and a poorer area of town. Security in this area is sometimes a problem as there are very few lights. The area is also a nighttime meeting place for many of the area's boda-boda (taxi) drivers.
