Ramsey County prosecutors formally charged eight members of the RNC Welcoming Committee with conspiracy to riot in furtherance of terrorism. On Thursday, other members of the anarchist group held their first press conference. One local activist accused the police of beating and torturing him in jail.

I agree. People will fail under this premise. It is better to follow Dr. Martin Luther King and Gandhi. Passive resistance is the only form of protest which does not stain the reputation of a force for reform and justice.

I agree with violence only produces violence.. it would have been better to spray a slogan on the window, and that way it would have been there for all the world to see, rather than an empty window.

My justification was for "capitalism being a problem", not for someone smashing a window... which in the end the tax payer and the customer pays for anyway.

How does that justify destruction of property? It does not logically follow that breaking a store window is any solution that produces positive results. It seems to accomplish the opposite. The person breaking the window is perceived as dangerous. He or she becomes an image of chaos not a voice of reform of chaos. I certainly don't dispute that corporations are corrupt private institutions, but I cannot see how smashing a window fixes a broken country. Violence only produces violence.

But the likelihood of that use of force being required to control him? Unless Ramsey Police Dept jail hires a bunch of sissy-ass-wimps then their response was simply a lie. Define disruptive. If you torture a kid and he's screaming, that could be disruptive.
