Here is the first of many Split Enz uploads taken from a VHS compilation called History Never Repeats. I really love the early theatrics of the band. I never get tired of watching the videos or listening to their music. Enjoy!

  • cool, would love to see the vids which aren't on the dvd, I think Next Exit, Never ceases to amaze me and I don't wanna dance...are these on your tape?

  • Yes, all 3 of those that you mentioned are on my tape. I'm going to go in order! I think only two videos that are on this tape are currently on YouTube and that's Message to my girl and I got you. I have the rest. My goal is at least one a day.

  • Like if Salvador Dali picked up a guitar.

  • F*ck I love this song! Although it's a bit before my time I "discovered" a few years ago off usenet and just fell in love with its anthemic quality. I agree with the guy below - this song deserves the same reverence as any classic rock and roll classic.

  • Damn, I need to get one of those bad-ass suits.

Phil and Tim, I love you oh so much. ^-^

  • To which album this is on: Split Enz released "Mental Notes" in NZ/Aus, but then their second album was released as "Mental Notes" in the UK, and "Second Thoughts" in NZ/Aus. So, you're both right! See the Wikipedia page for Second Thoughts for more information.

  • Lovely. I'd like to say this was my favourite Enz song ever, but that would mean eliminating Betty, Marooned, Under the Wheel, Stuff and Nonsense, Nobody Take Me Seriuously, Message to My Girl, I Walk Away and One Mouth Is Fed.

  • saw them blow Tom Petty off the friggin' stage.he shouldve opened !

  • OMG! It's Voldemort! Run get in the car!!

  • (sorry - continued!) the Mental Notes album. I know because it took me weeks to order it from the (then) Virgin Records in Nott'm. Tim Finn was spellbinding as the front man. The whole act was quite avant garde and theatrical with the highlight being "Time for a Change". The album can be obtained from Amazon and is well recommended as *****. They lightened up a bit after this and became more mainstream and obviously more popular as they morphed into Crowded House.

  • Excellent video. Saw them in Nottingham in the mid-70s as support to a band called Jack the Lad. Their set was so stunning that the main act paled into insignificance. Quite gob-smacking and very theatrical. This is from

  • Hard to pick a favourite Enz song, but it's between this (Phil), Betty (Tim) and I Walk Away (Neil).

  • really???? strange here in y country that version is from the mental notes album and i still have the lp

  • Yes, SEXY!!!
