'In the 1960s, anti-Soviet propaganda originally published in Nazi Germany, was republished by a former British secret service agent named Robert Conquest under the more respectable cloak of Harvard University. In his 1969 book The Great Terror Conquest puts the number of Stalins victims (in inverted commas) at between 5 and 6 million.

But by the 1980s, Conquest was alleging that there had been in 1939 a total of 25 to 30 million prisoners in the Soviet Union, that in 1950 there had been 12 million political prisoners.

But when, under Gorbachev, the archives of the Central Committee of the CPSU were opened up to researchers, it was found that the number of political prisoners in 1939 had been 454,000, not the millions claimed by Conquest.

If we add those in prison for non-political offences, we get a figure of 2.5 million, that is, 2.4% of the adult population.

In contrast, there were in the United States in 1996, according to official figures, 5.5 million people in prison, or 2.8% of the adult population.

That is, the number of prisoners in the USA today is 3 million more than the maximum number ever held in the Soviet Union.'

This coffee bar video merely provides a starting point from where you can construct your brilliant strategic counter-arguments. Become the tactician that you are.

How to argue against capitalists: Stalin

Picture this: you are seated in some coffee bar business when suddenly an allegation (by some degenerate capitalist) against Stalin is put to you. What do you do? Are you prepared? The capitalist asserts Stalin's USSR killed millions of people.

It seems that, as a general rule, people who make outrageous allegations against Stalin know absolutely nothing about him. You need to attack and refute the allegation that Stalin's USSR killed millions of people. How will you do this?

You will need to do some research for this one. You are not attempting to re-write history, this is not revisionism. Instead, you will be citing an article translated from a speech made by Mario Sousa. This article will, for now, be all the ammunition you require. The article is entitled Lies Concerning the History of the Soviet Union speech by Mario Sousa, KPML, Sweden, presented to the Stalin Society by Ella Rule 1999.

This article addresses most the relevant issues: the purges of 1937, Ukraine famine, gulags, Robert Conquest, William Hearst, etc.

The entire article is based upon historic archives released under the Gorbachev administration (E. Rule, see pp.6&7 of print -off). What happened was this: the hysteria of Gorbachev's new free press led to the opening up of archives of the Central Committee. The research emanating from these archives of the Soviet penal system was set out in a document approximately 9,000 pages long (hereafter the document). The authors of this document are many. The best known of them are the Russian historians VN Zemskov, AN Dougin, and OV Xlevjnik. Their work began to be published in 1990 and by 1993 had almost been finished and completely published. What is significant is that these researchers have:

'... thoroughly exposed the lies of Conquest, Solzhenitsyn, Medvedev and others, which they have done purely by reason of the fact that they place their professional integrity in the first place and will not allow themselves to be bought for propaganda purposes'. (Rule, at p. 7).

The document refutes figures relied on by the western propaganda machine. How do you know this document (compiled from the Soviet archives) is legitimate? Well, that is the million dollar question. But the same question could be asked about almost any document like this -whether it be in the east or west. The researchers have placed their professional integrity on the line. The entire document stands or falls on that basis. But for now, that is a separate issue.

All you need to do for now is cite this article and it's significance to the capitalist who made the allegation. Odds are, s/he will never have heard of it before. Now, you have placed the element of doubt in their mind and the minds of others. They have no counter-attack, they cannot refute what you are saying. Unless they are well-acquainted with Stalin etc, then they are likely to know very little or nothing at all about him and the USSR. Now, their allegation: Stalin's USSR killed millions of people, appears as a shallow assertion, devoid of any factual or reliable evidence. It is reduced to a bold (arguably) unprovable assertion.

  • Your ad hominem attacks cannot change the fact that millions of people fled Stalinism (and still flee it in places such as N. Korea). My America is a "workers' paradise" compared to a day in the life of Ivan Denisovich's richest uncle.

  • @cosette2193 you arguments are incredibly weak. Thousands, (millions?) escape over the Mexican border for a life in the U$A. Many Mexicans are shot, raped, abused, exploited, etc etc.. Is Mexico a capitalist state ?? YES. Therefore your argument is void

  • I do not see any difference between International Socialism and National Socialism. Opposition to one would get me sent to Siberia for rest, recreation, and reeducation. Opposition to the other would get me a one-way ticket to Dachau. I will take the British, the U.S.. or even the French constitution and their legislatives, courts, and police before I would sign up for a day of Stalinism.

  • @cosette2193 That's correct you would, as you are a puppet for western powers. you take on board all the shit and lies because to do the serious reading and research requires too much work, and you are probably a lazy cunt

  • I'll trust Alexander Solzhenitsyn before I trust this apology. Any cheers for Stalin in the Ukraine. Lock me up for "anti-Soviet activity."

  • @cosette2193 maybe you should be locked up, thanks for the idea lol, there's a gulag in Siberia awaiting you
