IN THE thick of preparations for her wedding in Los Angeles in January 2004, Lea Salonga received an early Christmas gift: The Broadway cast album of "Flower Drum Song," which is led by her, has been nominated for best musical show album in the 46th Grammy Awards.

Lea's name appears on the Grammy website (www.grammy.com), which carries the complete list of the 46th Grammy Awards nominees.

The 46th Grammy nominations are dominated by rap and R&B artists. The nominees were announced Thursday afternoon (early Friday morning in Manila) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. It was attended by national and international media, as well as top music industry executives.

Lea starred in "Flower Drum Song" on Broadway from October 2002 to March 2003, and is also in the musical's soundtrack album.

Also nominated for best musical show album were Billy Joel's "Movin' Out" (with Michael Cavanaugh) from Sony Classical, "Nine" (starring Antonio Banderas and Chita Rivera) from PS Classics, Stephen Sondheim's "Gypsy" (starring Bernadette Peters, Tammy Blanchard and John Dossett) from Angel Records, and "Man of La Mancha" (starring Brian Stokes Mitchell, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and Ernie Sabella) from RCA Victor.

I LOVED Flower Drum song, Les Mis, Mulan, and Aladdin before I knew she was in those. When I found out Lea was in all of those, you have NO idea how excited I was.
