My dobermann, "The King" was dying of heart enlargement. The EKG was the last thing we tried,.. he had the disease. After about a week, I saw my boy getting worse and worse. I finally asked the King what should I do?... and for the first time he lied down and started whimpering, then crying. We, and I mean WE could not take it any more.. I had him put down on 16 Nov 08, he passed in my arms. It has been Hell ever since. Euthanasia is good when properly used.

@o56kid I had a cat that was dying, I decided to let the vet do an exploratory to see of he could save her. I faal that I made the wrong decision.
In any case you have to be there for them till the end. .

I believe that nature should take its course. Euthanasia, may help to console us of the fact that we helped in reducing the dog's pain, BUT, we should REMEMBER that WE have taken the liberty to END the dog's stay on this earth. When I saw my 7-month-old pup lying dead, I said a prayer and thanked God for the 7 beautiful months he stayed with us. I thanked God that HE gave me a good friend, though his stay was very shortlived; it was a precious one. He had to go someday, it was Benji's time.

My Dog had a Paarvo attack (viral disease). I get up at 4 in the morning to give him his meds, and, he is lying dead. I tried so hard,I believed and I never lost faith in him. I know that h tried too. I aw suffer at the clinic. I feel guilty! I miss him so much. He was such a good friend. Dogs are way better than humans man. You do whatever to them, and they are always there to greet you like never before. I lost two dogs in two months. I never felt this sad, man. I will always remember them.

If the animal in question is not going to get better then it is only fair to put it out its missery. I know that I would want to be put out my pain if I was on my way out.

Why can't sick humans don't get to have the same treatment?

RIP, beautiful boy.

Aww... It makes me sad! He seems like he was a nice dog! I know he is happier now that he is healthy in heaven!
Thanks for keeping us posted about West and his battles; and now his demise. No more distress, pain and uncertainty for him. I wish peace and comfort for his bereaved family.

We have a local Pawspice center (hospice for pets) & they help with pain relief & advice when medical intervention no longer helps but just annoys a pet. They have a list of quality-of-life things, but Dr V also told me I would "just know" if I had to make a decision. She was right because eventually the cancer traveled to Alex's brain & she had a series of awful seizures & nothing could stop them & she howled to me for help. It was time. It was sad to do, but she would've done the same for me.
