@towhidskynet Snow: Not generally. I think they can get a light sprinkling once every 2 decades or so. I think the freeways in Melbourne are great!

I wish 10C was cold for me. It's -1 and as I sit right now looking outside I can see snow flurries.

Well, Cairns is BNE is similar to BNE - MEL in distance, so it must be about a 22 hour drive. BNE to SYD to approx. 12 hours (I think).

Just to clarify, by "outside lane" you mean the right hand lane, don't you? Drivers in Australia are mostly pretty good. We have signs up on all the highways "Keep left unless overtaking".
When it gets any more than 2 lanes, some of those defaults go out the window: people tend to stick to the middle lanes, so the far left lane becomes a handy overtaking lane when the far right is cluttered!
