Also Sprach Zarathustra (Opening Theme and Fanfare) - Composed by Richard Strauss - 1896 - Opus 30 - is one of his famous tone poems, which was inspired by the philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche. This theme is best known for its dramatic use in the opening credits as the theme music of Stanley Kubrick's 1968 visionary film - 2001 - A Space Odyssey - based itself on the science fiction novel written by Arthur C Clarke. In the context of the Kubrick Film, the title is often translated as Thus Spake Zarathustra, or even Thus Spoke Zarathustra!

The opening theme from Also Sprach Zarathustra is performed by transgendered musician - Miss Denise Hewitt - on a modern Technics PR903 Digital Piano in 1980's Poly Synthesiser Mode coupled with electronic organs!

  • @DanielSahne - Thanks so much for viewing and I'm delighted that you enjoyed my version of this classic theme from Kubrick's Film! I'm planning to lose some weight so at least I should resemble the smaller planets such as Venus rather than Jupiter & Saturn:) Warm Easter Weekend Wishes - DeniseX

  • Wow is all I can come up with right now.

  • @CoD4Zavera You know the A-flat! You are evolved; you understand the message of the monoltih and, you are a Sapien. (That is my test)

  • @CoD4Zavera - Thanks so much for taking the time to provide such detailed comments on my performance of this wonderful composition by Richard Strauss. My version is based on a rather old early 20thC printed arrangement for piano which I further improvised for my home Technics Synthesiser Keyboard. I always play my recordings "live" without any pre-sequencing and I'll see how I can add in some live timpani in future arrangements! Sending you Warm Weekend Wishes:) - Denise
