Produced by the Central District Health Department (CDHD) in Boise, ID.
Foodborne illnesses are responsible for more than 75 million illnesses, more than 230,000 hospitalizations, and approximately 5000 deaths each year in the United States. In Part 1, we show you 3 types of contamination and how improper handling can allow them to become dangerous to your patrons.

  • We are working on a project for our Nursing degree at Boise State University. One of the components of that project is Food Safety. We are wondering if we might be able to use this video and imbed it in a training powerpoint we are putting together.

  • @tangel63 Hi, thanks for contacting the Central District Health Department. Yes, you are welcome to use our video for your project at Boise State. On our website under training is a link to the food safety training page where we've posted our Creative Commons use and attribution guidelines. In short, you can use the videos as long as you give CDHD credit where credit is due. Call Dave Fotsch 327-8639 for more info, if you need to.

  • are these the videos that burger king or mdc play to the employees that cook?

  • @joemagma

Hi, thanks for the question. If these videos are shown to employees of McDonald's or Burger Kin we're happy to hear it, but to our knowledge it is not an official video employees must watch at those establishments. Nor did either of the burger chains contribute to the video's production. We still think the information contained in the videos is valuable to anyone in the food service industry, so we encourage all food service employees to watch and share these videos.

  • the man that wash his hand at about 3:00 has a watch, isn´t that kind of taboo

  • It's true. He's also wearing a ring, which by strict definition isn't allowed either. We realized this after the video was produced. But rather than reshoot that scene, we opted to leave it the way it is, hoping that the over-riding message would be proper handwashing. Thanks for watching!

  • 2 HRS!!! FOOD CAN ONLY BE IN THE DANGER ZONE FOR 2 HRS!!!

  • @joemagma Mc D's has their own vids. Unfortunately they do not show it to all employees.

  • how can i store food so that temperature, and moisture don't effect them as easily what kinds of foods are they talking about that have a history of food borne illness, how do i know where they come from when i purchase them, and how can i find out when this is most likely to happen from those companies, or from their competetors y'all think this is helpful, but aside of using everyday common sense, this message was vague, and didn't give me any helpful information at all

  • Anyone interested in food hygiene issues may wish to see our clips at encentre. Currently there are clips on pest control but hygiene and HACCP coming soon.
