The debate here really isn't about Emergent. The debate is about whether one believes the Bible...every word...or not. Some of us do, while it seems many others do not. Emergent wouldn't be an issue if the Church (both individually and collectively) held to the Scriptures. The issue is the lack of regard for the Word of God. History shows us that is exactly how heresy gets traction.

So you call Eric Barger a conspiracy hound when he is shining the light on some serious false teaching that is embedding its way across Nazarene college campuses from Brian McLaren?

So do YOU believe that the cross is false advertising for God?

Do you believe that there is no hell?

Do you believe that the Bible is unclear about the sin of homosexuality?

Truth of the Scriptures is never rejected.

If one's 'belief' system is not backed by scripture you are not living in truth.

well, are we the orthodox, so full of love joy and peace that the unbelievers are either bashing our doors down to get what we have or are incensed out of pure envy atwhat we have in christ?

no?

then we only have intellectual assent, notfaith. what we believe is shown by our fruit. our carnal fruit show we do not believe the gospel. oh, i am not suggestintg forced work to do dead works, only to show we are as bad as the emergent, maybe worse, for being the greater hypocrites

I would very much like to see those corretly pointing to the errors of the emergent church also exposing the errors of their own church affiliation: the legalism, the self righteousness, the forced therefore hypocritical belief in the doctrines of scripture.

but of course that wont happen, it is easier to point to the sins of the other fellow than look in the mirror.

the truth is that there has not been a falling away from scripture, only that some have given up the pretense of believing it

Interesting to see those who come in(and in no regaurds to the speaker)who use the thoughts ofman/humanity to judge the wordof God. A serpent did the same one day and look at the mess we arein for that. BTW the neo platonic Gnosticism is what you will see in the emergent church. Plato did not exist when God showed a duality between him and Adam or him and the rest ofthe world-a consistant duality does not match the emergent lies. When Christ declared God's word was truth-I will settle for Christ

@s I am very much against the emerging church and do not see many saved in there(though some I think are saved and decieved).I say this for one reason-educate yourself on the various teachings and teachers for often times in the scriptures with the prophets and apostles preached against those whom were decieving by showing their teachings were in error opposing the scriptures-Galatians being a goodexample. I say this forone reason-that we all would grow and snatch some from hell/emergent church.
