  • Ironically enough I suppose, another song that shares this air is "Come Out Ye Black And Tans" by Dominic Behan.

  • @marryapersonality It's not really ironic, both traditons have been adding their own lyrics to traditional melodes to suit their own political agenda. I think Boyne Water was written quite a few years before the Black and Tans were even thopught of however

  • a canny read tht type of music , we play boyne water a different way

  • yes greg there are many variations of this tune however the traditional version which would have been played on a Fife is closer to this than most bands play nowadays.

  • The Defence of Enniskillen is an old historical song sung to this air - words can be found on The Orange Minstrel or Ulster Methodist book 1832
