Untrue. There is an AWB in California, covering AR and AK type rifles on a specific list. Many currently manufactured AR and AK type rifles are not on this list, and therefore legal. The limitation on removable magazines on rifles with pistol grips is met by the fact that many current Californian shooters use an adapter which requires a tool to remove the magazine, they just keep the tool next to their mat. Some Californians have Pre-Ban AWs and they are perfectly legal to shoot.

if you hit the black every time thats a good enough grouping
everything past that youre splitting hairs
-
What is a good group size at this range standing? I can never find any info ever about the 10 shot groups.
-
That is how you hold an AR style rifle in this kind of competition.

@KholdAxe even tho this is a "high power" match the 223/5.56 is hardly what a serious rifleman would call a big bore rifle. its common practice to have the butt stock barely in the shoulder or in this case, not even in the shoulder. i'm guessing he's doing it to minimize the amount of rise and drop from his body and his pulse.
-
The dude in the tan holds his rifle funny. It's not even in his shoulder.

who the hell said they were in california? sure it may be illegal in cali, but they probably arent even there...
10 shots worth a maximum of 10 points each. Mid 90s is good. Aiming black, including the black is about 16 inches.

"This activity is a felony in California."
Wrong. Very wrong. I've competed in High Power out here in CA. We have many ways around the bans now.

So, there are many ways around the bans, or there is no ban? Shooting highpower rifle, like the ARs shown in this video is a felony in California. You may be able to shoot with a modified rifle, or work your way around the ban- as long as someone doesn't show up to arrest you, but it's not the same, nor is the future optimistic. And juniors shooting these ARs, like the juniors in the video, is against California State law.

No ammo rules beyond using .223. for Service rifle Competition. Everyone shooting handloads. No tracers. Sierra 69s very popular at 200. Some shoot Hornacy 68s, others Sierra Matchking 77s. This is relay 1. Mostly High Master shooters. You are watching current and former state, regional, and National Trophy winners.

Note the targets come up at the first of this video. Black dot is the 9, 10, and X ring. Utley is shooting a 98 out of 100. Thats two in the nine ring, the rest in the 10 and X. Offhand. At 200 yards. If you want to learn to shoot a rifle, shoot NRA Highpower.
