  • @afghans4eva Thanks for commenting. Calgary is experiencing a labour shortage in a number of sectors. Calgary Economic Development along with 40 corporate partners, has launched a marketing campaign to attract workers called “Calgary. Be Part of the Energy”. As a starting point, you can check out bepartoftheenergy.ca. Many of these 40 companies are hiring hundreds of people before the end of the year. The highest employment needs specific to health care, project management and engineering.

  • i visited relatives in calgary in 2008. soooooooo wanna come back

  • @gigaweich123 Come back soon! We've been selected as Canada's Cultural Capital for 2012, so next year is going to be one big celebration!

  • Was in Calgary last week....loved every moment....excellent city....not very big to cause confusion and just sufficient enough for one to enjoy oneself. It has very well maintained parks and museums....notable among them is the heritage park (a blend of a park and a museum) which showcases life in the early 20th century. Also a must see is the Calgary tower which can give a fantastic view of the city. The best thing is that Banff is just a hour and half away so you can never run out of places.

  • @iamthe007 Thanks for the comment. We're happy to hear that you have a great visit! Come back to another visit soon!

  • The heart of the "New West" pumps dirty bitumen through it's tar coated money grabbing veins.

As a native Calgarian, I apologize to the rest of the country.

  • Brass monkey's in wintertime.

  • @nastylikenas27 Coming from someone who can't even spell the word wasteland....let alone realize that it is one word not two.....

  • Beaultiful!! Thanks.

  • I <3 CALGARY I'M MEXICAN!

  • @medford44 Given a background in International relations I'd advise a more civil service oriented city, Calgary is a great city, but consider a provincial capital, then you can work with the government, if you speak French maybe even consider Ottawa (A touch bigger than Calgary, but due to height restricitons, and the hills you'd never guess it.) If you do speak French and are expecting to use it here the level of difference with our French is similar to that of Portuguese.

I can't speak for the economics of the IT field in Calgary, but being from Toronto I can tell you that an entry level position in IT would require a minimum of COMP TIA A+ certification, I think you can still do it online for a fee. Most people getting into IT here went to a community college of some sort, either here or abroad. Another common entryway is to be a computer science or engineering undergraduate. As for your English, move to a major city and you're fine.

  • Greetings from Melbourne Australia. I was recently in your wonderful city and could not believe how clean and beautiful it is.

  • The best place ever! Would love to go back!!!!
