It is such a shame, because, I too thought Gary's performance was incredible! His accent was SO perfect, and few if any usually do that particular accent right.
BUT, the movie was just kind of dumb frankly...so his Oscar worthy performance gets lost! A real shame.

I`ve not seen this movie, but I have just seen his performance in "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy". You simply would NOT know it was the same person. He can play high-brow or low-brow, any social class, flawlessly deliver any accent, play tragedy, comedy and everything in-between. Play an iconic classical composer... or a punk rocker, villain or law enforcer, politicians,assassins, fantasy characters.
Simply the grestest actor of his generation (or any other) .

lol. i don't care what anyone thinks. this is one of the best performances i've ever seen by any actor. i never see gary oldman. only Buford Dill. this is a perfect example of just how talented this man is. great video.

I agree 100%. The first time I saw this movie, I missed the beginning and watched the rest of it without even realizing it was him! I can't help laughing every time I see it. He's even a good dancer, is there anything he can't do well? I don't think so.
