    just asking

  • It is a Hip disease called Leggs-Calve Perthes, the femoral head, or top of the femur (leg bone) essentially dies and falls out of the joint. Hope that helps...

  • So Glad to see him getting along with the petries. Would you mind me linking this to a perthes group on yahoo. I run information for perthes with over 300 members. Many with kids under 9 going threw petrie casts and braces. Brian

  • No Not at all, I would like to join if I could...we are still on our perthes journey...

  • Hendrix. I had Pethes disease 30 years ago and had cast exactly like you, had a big family and got through it all with love.Had great upper arm stregnth as I got a wheel chair.. I'm 40 now and for 1st time I am seeing a doctor since I was 10. Your video made me cry as it reminded me for the first time in years what it was like and how much my mum did for me. God Bless you. You will be as strong as an OX. God Bless

  • how u doing Hendrix now ?

  • Good Job!

  • How is Hendrix doing? I had perthes i both hips when I was a kid, I know what he is going threw. I had to have my left hip replaced last year but am doing great now.

  • Perthes is AVN of the hip. AVN is loss of blood supply causing the area above the growth plate to die. Unlike long bone it doesn't grow back fast. It is an ossified bone. Cartilage must grow to fill the void then it is calcified. Holding the hip at an angle to the socket keeps it from flattening. Casts braces, distraction, or bone cutting surgery is used to do this. Average time is two years start to finish but some way longer.

  • thanxz xx

  • The group is called information-perthes on yahoo groups. Let me know if you have any problems finding it. Brian
