Hi mate, my q wont eject at all, cant even push the drive open manually, i just pulled it out of the box after maybe 2 years of not using it, well packaged no damage just does not want to eject... Is there any chance of sending it you and paying you to fix it?

@death247365 Same thing here, but it plays DVDs fine. Did you find a solution? It can read memory cards and I changed the belt. Maybe a ribbon connector? Which one links the drive to the GC PCB?

Hey Luke I have one that won't read the disc anymore any recommendation on how to fix it.
-
Is there a guide out there on the net, because my Q has that problem, and I would like to fix it soon. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Disassembly might look difficult but it's relatively straight-forward. Take the side panels off, undo the x2 screws on the back that are holding the top-panel in place. Disconnect the cables to and from the top-panel (on both sides). Push the back panel in very slightly, whilst pushing up the top panel to release it.
There's a couple of screws holding the front panel in place (few on the base, and two inside) but be careful not to strain the ribbon cable that connects the controller ports etc.

I've seen one or two examples where the plastic mounting posts for the DVD drive have broken, which makes the DVD drive sit pretty much loose inside the unit. It's usually repairable if you have the broken-off bits to hand.
The tray itself can be ejected by pushing the back of it. If you take the left panel off (the one with the fan outlet), you can push the tray out from inside. As for belts, search for an assortment pack of tape deck ones on eBay, there's usually a correct sized one in there.

I've never even heard of a Panasonic Q, its it like a japan exclusive or something? -needs to search wikipedia-
either way, I'll keep that in mind :).

Thankfully, my Q doesn't suffer from this problem yet. Probably due to me not using it very often.

Thanks for the tip on this Luke, I don't own this specific gamecube but if I do I will know what to do. = )

Miss hearing you explaining all these little repair projects face to face, over a few beers and a bit of co-op killing. One day dude... one day!!
Yo Luke, would putting some sort of lubrication on the belt itself work? If so, what? Like WD-40? You know I've been having this problem with my Q, and wouldn't mind a simple fix. I don't think I'll ever open mine. I cringe after watching that one tear down video of the Q.

@LordXaero Hey man, no, I wouldnt recommend putting any lubricant on the belt as it would make it slip more and although you could technically use rubbing alcohol on the belt to make it grip better I wouldnt recommend doing that either as it will cause the belt to rot or crack. There might be some kind of rubber cleaner out there that you could use but I dont know of any myself. Take it easy man
