Rider Carbon fiber steel string travel guitar.
Mark Hamre, a wonderful guitar player, inventor of the Neck up guitar support, and now good friend, stopped in for a visit on the way down to Santa Barbara. His hard-driving blues really brings out the low-end and volume of the Blackbird Rider. Check out more of his music at Neckup.com. More on Blackbird at www.blackbirdguitar.com

what song and/or riff is he playing?

I recently picked one up from their workshop in San Francisco before traveling back to Japan. JAL and UA both let me take the guitar as a carry on with no problems.
I was debating between this and the cargo, but this guitar is clearly head and shoulders above the cargo... I haven't heard one Rainsong that has come close to impressing me so I highly suggest the rider if you're looking for a travel acoustic guitar with no sacrifice to the sound and without worrying about bumps or the weather.

Think this one's tough enough to hop trains with?

Boy tough call. CA's are gone. I have strummed one of these. Very comfortable and very nice sound. Not cheap for campfires. The scale length is a bit longer on the Blackbird than the Cargo. Nut on both is 1.75 which is nice. My recommendation is get both if you can.

You can get this with a pickup for a little extra, like 140 or so...
