Hey Gleeks! You're watching ClevverMusic. I'm Bridget Daly with your Glee-Cap from episode, "Extraordinary Merry Christmas." This was a tearjerker people! The episode opened with one of my fave holiday tunes, All I Want For Christmas Is You, led by Mercedes, who definitely gave Mariah a run for her money with her version! The scene then cut to Rachel, who presented Finn with a lengthy Christmas wish list, and he didn't seem too psyched on it.
Sue Sylvester then had a sit down talk with some of the New Directions guys, getting them to commit to singing for the homeless at a shelter later that week—they agree, and are shocked to see such a sensitive side to Sue! Back in the Glee room, adorable exchange student Rory reveals his family doesn't have the funds to visit him this Christmas, so he'll be spending it alone, prompting him to sing the depressing tune Blue Christmas. The mood however is instantly brightened when Shu bursts in telling the kids they'll be starring in a Christmas Special to air on local TV! Will asks Artie to direct it, and everyone is super excited, until realizing ooops it's at the same time they promised Sue they'd volunteer at the shelter. The kids all agree, with the exception of Sam and Quinn, that the TV special trumps the shelter, and they move forward with their rehearsals.
The TV special is a huge hit, taking place at Kurt and Blaine's home, with Rachel, Mercedes, Finn, Puck and the Cheerios all coming over to sing holiday tunes . And then Rory's cameo at the end reminds them of the true meaning of Christmas, and all the kids decide to head to the shelter to sing for the kids and hand our presents . The episode ends with Finn giving Rachel her Christmas gift—a star he's named after himself so he's always looking down at her---and yes those sparkly earrings she's been hinting at! Rachel decides she doesn't want the earrings, and she and Finn sell their presents and use the money to donate it to the needy, finally realizing what the season is all about.
See I told you, tearjerker of an episode! And speaking of crying, I want to weep knowing the show won't return until February!!! What did you guys think about the episode?
