I loved this show, I loved the elephant, back then the shows were about love and hope and morality, thank you for posting, this scene made me weep .

Maya, Fury, My Friend Flicka, Daktari & Flipper were my favorite shows as a kid. I even named my first dog in 1996 Maya because of this show. I watched these show all in Germany; I'm from Nicaragua but grew up in Germany. Thanks for the nice memory of this show. I wish they would put them out on DVD or even on Netlix.

Hard to believe that Sajid Kahn is now 57!! My older sister was in love with him. My dad used to call this show "Maya the Jewish Elephant" because Maya sounded like a Jewish name to him. (we're Jewish - my Dad loved to joke!)

No, we didn't get to see Terry find his father. There was supposed to be a season 2 but the network found it difficult filming a series in another country back then. There was a TV Guide story about filming Maya in the 60's.
