Adlerwarte Berlebeck is Europe's biggest and oldest birds of prey center (founded in 1939). It is situated in the middle of the Teutoburg Forest, in the small village of Berlebeck near Detmold, Germany.
Adlerwarte hosts eagles and other birds of prey from all continents. It is also a sanctuary for sick and old eagles and engages in breeding programs for endangered species.
Some of the birds live nearly free and only return to the Adlerwarte for food.
You can walk around and have a look at all the birds, but the special highlight is the free flight presentation.
There is also a shop and an interactive museum.

("Warte" is a German word for "observation point", and "Adler" means eagle.)

This was fantastic! My son is doing birds of prey in school, and it was amazing to see these birds:-) I wish there was a center as nice as this one in the States!
